The Medical Director Clinical Informatics will lead and develop innovative approaches to clinical decision support (CDS) content authoring in support of electronic health record (EHR) embedded applications. This role will primarily be responsible for deeply understanding and translating clinical practice guidelines from their native narrative form into structured logic representations that faithfully interprets and disambiguates the guidelines. This work will be done with attention to detail and incorporate adherence to clinical ontologies/terminologies, information model and interoperability standards. The role will work collaboratively with our technical teams on transforming the structured logic into executable content, maintenance and QA of the content. In addition, this role will serve as a thought leader in helping to optimize our content development pipeline including thoughtfully incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the process.

Primary Responsibilities:
Author, maintain, and support QA of CDS content
Translate clinical guidelines from a narrative format into a structured logical representation
Break down clinical guidelines to the semantically precise clinical concepts referenced in the Clinical Guideline
Collaborate with peer reviewers to ensure that content is clinically accurate, current, and supported by the best available evidence from the medical literature
Collaborate with clinical terminologists to identify and represent clinical concepts using industry standard terminologies;
Partner with technical informaticists for implementation of the logical structured representation of the content using well defined data structures and algorithms
Act as a content and process steward related to the development of clinical content, author and maintain policies related to curation
Provide training and support for content authoring colleagues to leverage the tools, process and policies of content development
Clinical Product Development
Participate in cross functional collaboration between clinical content, clinical product and software development teams to optimize utilization of clinical content in relevant clinical workflows within clinical applications embedded and external to the EHR
Provide clinical informatics and clinical subject matter expertise and best practices to cross functional clinical product design to improve user adoption and experience of clinical applications
Train new teams of content authors in the use of tools, techniques, and best practices for content authoring
Innovation/Leadership
Design, test and implement new methods and process related to clinical content development
Collaborate in the development of ongoing strategy related to incorporation of AI capabilities into content development pipeline ensuring appropriate safeguards
Provide thought leadership internally on clinical content development best practices

Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $xxx,xxx - $xxx,xxx. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role.
