Medical Director - Heart Failure and Transplant Program
Position summary
Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a fellowship trained, board certified, Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologist to serve as Medical Director for our Advanced Heart Failure Transplant team for the Central Texas Region.This is an opportunity to lead a robust program with 8 Heart Failure Cardiologists and multiple APPs as part of a robust multidisciplinary team including surgical, imaging, structural and critical care expertise. Our program currently performs approximately 50 heart replacements annually, has excellent SRTR outcomes, and is well poised for future growth via outreach partnerships with nearby affiliated hospitals.
Qualifications
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Chief, Division of Cardiology and Chair, Department of Medicine
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years clinical experience in transplantation, with administrative experience a plus
CLINICAL DUTIES (80% effort):
Opportunity to perform Cath lab procedures (i.e. right heart catheterization, implantable pulmonary artery monitors) and read ECHO for VAD and Heart Transplant
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (20% effort):
ACADEMIC DUTIES
ACGME education of Cardiology Fellows, Internal Medicine Residents, and supporting a newly developed Advanced Heart Failure fellowship.
Faculty appointment through Baylor College of Medicine at rank commensurate with academic experience is expected, and involvement with the education of medical students is variable dependent on interest.
Research interest is encouraged, with potential for additional protected time based on grant funding

- Doctorate Degree in Medicine
- Licensed to Practice Medicine in the state of Texas by the Texas Medical Board by start date
- Where Applicable- Employee shall be currently board certified in his or her specialty or demonstrate active pursuit of board certification as defined by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists
