    Northeast Medical Group (NEMG), a member of Yale New Haven Health, is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Obstetrician-Gynecologist for a unique blended leadership and clinical opportunity as Medical Director, OB/GYN (0.1-0.2 FTE) and OB/GYN Generalist Physician. This dual-role position offers the opportunity to shape the future of ambulatory women's healthcare across NEMG while maintaining an active and fulfilling clinical practice. As Medical Director, the physician will provide leadership for ambulatory OB/GYN services across the NEMG network, serving as the primary liaison between specialty leadership and employed and affiliated OB/GYN clinicians. Reporting administratively to the Chief Ambulatory Physician Executive (CAPE) and professionally to the System Chair/Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Medical Director will collaborate with physician, operational, and executive leaders to advance clinical excellence, patient access, provider engagement, quality outcomes, and operational performance.

     

    In conjunction with these leadership responsibilities, the physician will practice as an OB/GYN Generalist, providing comprehensive women's healthcare services, including obstetrical and gynecologic care, to patients throughout Fairfield County and the surrounding communities. The clinical practice is based in our modern outpatient office in Wilton, Connecticut, with inpatient responsibilities at Greenwich Hospital, a nationally recognized and award-winning institution.

    Responsibilities:

    As Medical Director, OB/GYN, you will serve as the physician leader for ambulatory OB/GYN services across Northeast Medical Group (NEMG), providing strategic leadership and operational oversight to advance clinical excellence, physician engagement, patient access, quality outcomes, and practice performance. Reporting to the Chief Ambulatory Physician Executive (CAPE) and working in close partnership with the System Chair/Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology, you will help shape the future of women's healthcare across a growing, physician-led network. Key responsibilities include: 

    Physician Leadership & Specialty Representation

    • Serve as the physician leader and primary representative for NEMG OB/GYN physicians and advanced practice providers.
    • Function as the manager for employed OB/GYN clinicians within Northeast Medical Group.
    • Act as the liaison between specialty leadership, operational leadership, and frontline clinicians to ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
    • Advocate for clinician engagement, professional development, well-being, and satisfaction.

    Quality, Clinical Excellence & Patient Experience

    • Drive initiatives that improve quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and the patient experience.
    • Promote evidence-based care and standardization of clinical practices across NEMG OB/GYN locations.
    • Participate in specialty performance improvement activities and support continuous quality enhancement.
    • Establish annual quality priorities and monitor progress toward organizational goals.

    Operational Leadership & Access to Care

    • Partner with Regional Medical Directors, Ambulatory Operations, and specialty leadership to improve access, productivity, and operational performance.
    • Promote integration, coordination, and standardization of OB/GYN services across NEMG.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance care delivery.
    • Support the implementation of ambulatory initiatives designed to improve access and patient-centered care.

    Physician Recruitment, Retention & Development

    • Provide leadership and support for physician and advanced practice provider recruitment, onboarding, retention, engagement, and professional growth.
    • Foster a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and professional development.
    • Collaborate with educational and specialty leaders to support teaching and academic initiatives where applicable.

    Strategic Planning & Innovation

    • Develop and execute an annual OB/GYN specialty workplan aligned with system priorities.
    • Establish annual quality, access, and operational objectives for the specialty.
    • Support the development and enhancement of specialty performance metrics and dashboards.
    • Regularly review performance data and provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
    • Champion Epic optimization and the adoption of innovative technologies that enhance patient care and clinician efficiency.
    • Serve on NEMG, Ambulatory Operations, ACE, and Yale New Haven Health System committees and workgroups as assigned.

    System Leadership & Growth

    • Collaborate across multiple organizational levels to advance strategic initiatives within Women's Health.
    • Support the continued growth and evolution of ambulatory OB/GYN services throughout Northeast Medical Group.
    • Serve as a change agent, driving innovation, organizational effectiveness, and long-term success across the specialty.

    OB/GYN Generalist Physician – Clinical Practice Responsibilities

    In addition to Medical Director leadership responsibilities, the physician will maintain an active clinical practice providing comprehensive obstetrical and gynecologic care to patients throughout Fairfield County and the surrounding communities. This role offers the opportunity to combine meaningful physician leadership with a robust and rewarding clinical practice within a highly collaborative women's health program.

    • Provide full-scope OB/GYN care, including preventive gynecology, prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and gynecologic services.
    • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
    • Maintain inpatient privileges and participate in clinical care at Greenwich Hospital.
    • Participate in a shared call model with a supportive, experienced, and collegial physician team.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and specialists to deliver exceptional women's healthcare.
    • Utilize modern outpatient facilities and state-of-the-art surgical suites to provide comprehensive patient care.
    • Work alongside a dedicated Laborist Program that supports inpatient obstetrical services and enhances work-life balance.
    • Build a thriving practice through an established referral network and strong patient demand from day one.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical programs that support excellence in patient outcomes and experience.
    • Support teaching, mentorship, and professional development initiatives, including opportunities for a voluntary faculty appointment with Yale School of Medicine.
    • Engage in ongoing leadership development and contribute to the continued growth and advancement of women's health services across Yale New Haven Health
    Qualifications:
    • MD or DO degree
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
    • Eligible for medical licensure in Connecticut.
    • Demonstrated record of clinical excellence.
    • Prior physician leadership experience preferred, including Medical Director, Division Chief, Section Chief, Program Director, Department Vice Chair, or related leadership role.
    • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to lead effectively in a matrixed healthcare environment.
    • Commitment to quality, patient-centered care, physician engagement, and continuous improvement.

    Desired Qualifications & Leadership Characteristics

    The successful candidate will be board certified in the applicable specialty and have a demonstrated record of clinical excellence and leadership. The candidate should possess an understanding of specialty practice within a complex integrated health system and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a matrixed organizational structure.
