    Description

    Brown University Health has an exciting opportunity for a board-certified physiatrist to serve as medical director at our 28-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility in Newport, Rhode Island. Our growing academically oriented, systems-based, PM&R department is a four-time Guardian of Excellence Award Winner.

    About the job:
    • Serve as the medical supervisor of inpatient rehabilitation services
    • Provide direct patient care
    • Partner with the Chief of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Senior Vice President of Brown University Health, and inpatient PM&R consult physicians to set goals and priorities for program development
    • Work primarily with Stroke, amputee, TBI, Spinal Cord, Multiple Trauma, Orthopedic patients
    • The team consists of nine others including MD/DOs, physical, occupational and speech & language therapists
    • Average length of stay in the unit is 14 days
    • Call is 1:7 week
    • Brown Academic appointment in the Department of Neurology

    About you:
    • Board certified or eligible in physiatry
    • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • 2-3 years’ experience preferred but not required 
    About us:
    The Department of PM&R includes multiple outpatient clinics, with a focus on neurorehabilitation, including concussion/TBI, spinal cord injury, and spasticity management. We also manage general rehabilitation patients with musculoskeletal needs, prosthetics and orthotics, wheelchair management, and oncological rehabilitation
