Clinical Medical Director – Primary Care

Position Overview

A well-established healthcare organization is seeking a Clinical Medical Director (MD/DO) to lead clinical operations at an outpatient primary care clinic in Oswego, New York.

This is an outpatient primary care leadership opportunity offering an excellent work/life balance, with no nights or weekends. The Medical Director will oversee clinical operations while also providing direct patient care, including preventive medicine and chronic disease management.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide direct primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, and chronic disease management
• Oversee day-to-day clinical operations of the outpatient clinic
• Ensure high-quality clinical outcomes and adherence to established clinical guidelines
• Review patient charts and clinical documentation to maintain quality standards
• Monitor clinic performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
• Lead, mentor, coach, and support clinical staff
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention of healthcare professionals
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on patient volume and clinical needs
• Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership to improve patient care and clinic operations
• Support patient enrollment, retention, scheduling, and follow-up initiatives
• Participate in community outreach and patient engagement activities
• Support quality improvement and strategic clinical initiatives
• Promote a positive, collaborative, and patient-focused work environment
• Address clinical, patient, and staff concerns in a timely and effective manner

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Minimum 4 years of clinical practice experience
• Previous healthcare management or medical leadership experience preferred
• Valid, unrestricted U.S. medical license
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration
• Current BLS certification; ACLS certification as required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer systems

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary: $270,000–$280,000, based on experience
