Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with on-call responsibilities

The Hampton–Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a skilled and compassionate psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center, a 16-bed adult inpatient crisis stabilization unit. This leadership role offers the chance to directly influence high-quality care for individuals experiencing serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.

POSITION OVERVIEW
As Medical Director, you will lead the delivery of psychiatric services within the crisis unit. Responsibilities include performing psychiatric assessments, establishing diagnoses, and developing individualized treatment plans. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams on admissions, treatment coordination, and discharge planning, while also contributing your expertise in case reviews and consultations.

The ideal candidate brings strong clinical expertise in psychiatric care, especially in treating serious mental illness. A solid understanding of psychotropic medications, crisis response, and co-occurring disorders is essential. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing mental health care is also important. Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain thorough, accurate clinical documentation are key to success in this role.
