Job Description: Medical Director

Position Summary

Corporate Hiring Solutions Inc. (CoHires) is seeking a highly qualified Medical Director to provide professional medical leadership and oversight. The Medical Director will collaborate closely with facility administration, attending physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality resident-centered medical care while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The Medical Director will provide approximately 4–5 hours of on-site professional services per week, while remaining actively engaged in quality improvement initiatives, physician oversight, and regulatory compliance activities.


Key Responsibilities

The Medical Director shall:

  • Provide medical leadership for all clinical services delivered within the facility.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of resident medical care policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate physician services throughout the facility.
  • Ensure physicians meet required visitation schedules and documentation standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and resident care conferences as needed.
  • Review physician credentials and professional qualifications in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.
  • Attend Medical Staff Meetings, Advisory Board Meetings, and Quarterly Policy Meetings.
  • Monitor physician performance and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Promote evidence-based clinical practices that improve resident outcomes.
  • Support regulatory survey preparedness and participate in corrective action planning when required.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to improve quality of care and resident safety.
  • Ensure compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), New York State Department of Health, and applicable federal regulations.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and all resident confidentiality requirements.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nursing staff, residents, and families.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active and unrestricted New York State Physician License.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or a closely related specialty.
  • Prior experience serving as a Medical Director within a New York State long-term care facility.
  • Strong knowledge of skilled nursing facility regulations, CMS requirements, and New York State Public Health Law.
  • Demonstrated experience managing care for geriatric and medically complex residents.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Certification as a Certified Medical Director (CMD) through the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA).
  • Extensive experience in long-term care and post-acute rehabilitation settings.
  • Experience participating in QAPI initiatives.
  • Familiarity with PointClickCare or similar electronic health record systems.
  • Experience working within Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing facilities.
