Medical Director Location:Woodbury, New Jersey Employment Type: Part Time / Professional Services
Hours: Minimum 6 hours per week onsite + 24/7 on-call availability
Contract Duration: 12 monthsClient is seeking a physician to provide Medical Director services. Physician licensed in New Jersey and requires the Medical Director to coordinate resident care, participate in QAPI and Pharmacy & Therapeutics activities, maintain required documentation, and comply with applicable regulations.
The Medical Director will coordinate medical care for nursing-home residents, implement and support facility policies and procedures, participate in quality and regulatory activities, maintain required resident documentation, work with nursing leadership, and provide ongoing physician availability for resident-care matters.
Key Responsibilities:Coordinate medical care for
all residents.
Implement and support the facility's
policy and procedures manual.
Provide physician oversight and clinical guidance regarding resident medical care.
Attend quarterly
Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings.
Attend quarterly
Pharmacy & Therapeutics meetings.
Remain available
24/7 on call for emergencies and resident-care questions.
Designate an appropriately licensed professional to provide coverage during the Medical Director's absence, with prior written notification to administration.
Maintain required resident medical documentation.
Complete documentation at least
monthly for Medicaid residents.
Complete documentation at least
weekly for Medicare Part A residents.
Use the
Sigma Care System for order writing and entering resident documentation.
Meet weekly with the
Director of Nursing / Designee regarding:
- Resident-care issues
- State and federal regulations
- Survey preparation
- IDR matters
Participate in regulatory and compliance activities applicable to the facility.
Maintain all qualifications, certifications, and licenses required to perform the services.
Attend the scheduled quarterly Pharmacy & Therapeutics meetings.
Specifically identifies Sigma Care, weekly meetings with nursing leadership, survey preparation/IDR, and quarterly Pharmacy & Therapeutics meetings as part of the Medical Director responsibilities.
Qualifications:MD or qualified physician with an active
New Jersey medical license.
Active NJ medical license must be maintained throughout the contract.
Long-Term Care experience required.Geriatric experience required.Experience working in:- Nursing homes
- Skilled nursing facilities
- Long-term care facilities
- Sub-acute facilities
Previous
Medical Director experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing environment is preferred.
Experience coordinating medical care for nursing-home residents.
Experience working with
Director of Nursing / nursing facility leadership.
Experience with
QAPI and quality improvement activities.
Experience with regulatory compliance and nursing-home survey preparation.
Experience with
IDR processes preferred.
Experience participating in
Pharmacy & Therapeutics activities preferred.
Experience with Medicare Part A and Medicaid resident documentation.
Experience using
Sigma Care or another long-term-care clinical documentation system.
Ability to provide
24/7 physician on-call availability.
Ability to work the required
minimum 6 onsite hours per week.
Must be able to provide references from
long-term care or sub-acute facilities.
Must maintain
current malpractice insurance.
Must have/provide the required
CDS License.
The RFP requires the provider to maintain all necessary qualifications, certifications, and licenses required by federal and New Jersey law throughout the contract.
