Medical Imaging Scheduler

Position Overview
The Medical Imaging Scheduler supports a high-volume radiology department by managing patient scheduling, inbound and outbound calls, and coordinating imaging services across multiple modalities. This role plays a key part in improving patient access, reducing scheduling backlogs, and ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, and authorization processing within the electronic health record.
Responsibilities
Manage high-volume inbound and outbound calls related to radiology scheduling
Schedule and coordinate imaging appointments across modalities including X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, and DEXA
Process incoming orders and manage work queues to ensure timely appointment placement
Perform patient registration, insurance verification, and authorization processing
Conduct outbound calls to reduce scheduling backlogs and improve patient access
Provide patients with preparation instructions and gather required documentation
Request and manage prior imaging records and coordinate image distribution
Resolve patient inquiries and escalate issues as appropriate
Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record
Collaborate with technologists, physicians, and leadership to improve workflow efficiency and reduce call abandonment
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience
Minimum 6 months of experience in a radiology or medical imaging department
2+ years of experience in radiology scheduling or as a medical receptionist
Experience using call management systems such as Genesys Cloud
Familiarity with EPIC, Workday, or similar healthcare systems
Ability to discuss basic financial responsibility, estimates, and cost-sharing with patients
Experience requesting prior imaging and managing medical records or CD distribution
Exposure to process improvement or high-volume patient access operations

Pay Details: $24.00 per hour
