ImageCare Latham is seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Imaging Technologist, Mammography to join our Radiology team. This is a full time position, Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm with a possible weekend rotation. Must be willing to rotate to other ImageCare locations.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare patient for exams and ensures patient comfort and modesty.
  • Review patient chart to confirm correct radiographic examination. Always uses two forms of patient identification before any procedure is performed, as well as performs final verification process to ensure correct patient, correct procedure and correct site.
  • Ensure consent form is obtained as per policy prior to commencement of any procedure.
  • Position and instruct patients regarding the procedure to obtain the desired radiographic diagnostic results as specified by the physician.
  • Ensure that exams requested match patient condition and/or history and verifies that the requested procedure is correct as needed.
  • Select correct imaging protocols. Perform imaging in accordance with department procedures. Set up equipment as necessary and use the proper imaging protocol and exposure factors to optimize the image exposure and reduce radiation dose.
  • Adjust techniques and factors to improve diagnostic image quality.
  • Assist physicians in the performance of specialized examinations by preparing equipment, syringes and contrast media, holding and turning patients, passing instruments and supplies.
  • Following sterile technique procedures, scrub in or act as circulator as needed.
  • Post-processes exam and ensure that images transfer over to PACs.
  • Ensures all images are acquired and all exams are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Initiate hard stop when appropriate and notifies appropriate staff.
  • Monitor patients receiving contrast for adverse reactions and notify appropriate staff if needed.
  • Explain procedures to the patient and family members. Answers patient and family questions, ensuring that concerns are addressed.
  • Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown immediately to supervisor.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition and ensures that examination rooms are properly supplied with equipment and materials.
  • Place orders for various equipment and receives and stocks all equipment.
  • Adhere to ALARA principles of Radiation Protection including the use and exchange of personal dosimeters.
  • Respect diverse views and approaches, and contributes to maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.

Annual salary range: $32.00 - $46.00
