TheForeignLanguageMedicalInterpreterprovidesaccurateconsecutiveand/orsimultaneousinterpretationforLimitedEnglishProficient (LEP)patientsandtheirfamilies,ensuringcompleteandculturallyappropriatecommunicationthroughoutthecontinuumofcare. Servingasbothalanguagespecialistandculturalliaison,theinterpreterpromotesunderstandingbetweenpatientsandhealthcareproviders,supportsequitablecaredelivery,andensuresadherencetoregulatoryrequirementsandprofessionalstandards.Thispositionalsoparticipatesindepartmentaleducation,documentation,andperformanceimprovementinitiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Language
Interpretation
+ Provideaccurateinterpretationduringmedicalencountersusingconsecutive,simultaneous,andsighttranslationtechniques. + Deliverinterpretationservicesviain-person,telephone,orvideoremoteinterpretationplatformswhenneeded. + Supportcommunicationinavarietyofclinicalenvironmentsincludingsurgery,trauma,mentalhealth,palliativecare,anddischargeplanning.

+ Serveasaculturalliaisontobridgecommunicationgapsbetweenpatientsandhealthcareteams. + Assistprovidersinunderstandingculturalconsiderationsthatmayimpactcaredeliveryorpatientdecision-making.

+ Maintainaccuraterecordsofinterpretationencountersincludingencountertype,duration,andservicelocation. + EnsurestrictadherencetoHIPAAregulations,theNationalCodeofEthicsforInterpretersinHealthCare,andEmoryHealthcarepolicies.
