What Youll Do
- Perform routine and specialized blood compatibility testing, including ABO/Rh, antibody screening and identification, and antibody typing.
- Conduct crossmatching procedures (Immediate Spin, IgG, Electronic Crossmatch, Indirect Coombs).
- Prepare blood components for transfusion, supporting both pediatric and adult services.
- Float between Methodist, University, and Riley Hospitals (training on day shift initially).
- Maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
- Support laboratory functions with accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
What You Need
Required:
- ASCP-MLS or ASCP-BB certification
- Experience with specimen processing and compatibility testing
- Ability to work night shift, including every other weekend and holiday if scheduled
Preferred:
- Prior blood bank or transfusion medicine experience
- Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills
About the Assignment
This blood bank unit handles routine and specialized testing for transfusion needs, processing approximately 15,000 samples. The laboratory supports a variety of pediatric and adult transfusion services, performing compatibility testing and blood component preparation.
