Medical Lab Scientist

Summary: Performs laboratory testing of patient specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory. Interprets documents and reports test results. Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting. Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements. Performs projects as assigned and serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Performs diagnosticanalytic testing of specimens • Interprets documents and reports test results • Performs quality control testing • Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting • Complies with good laboratory practice and regulatory requirements • Performs projects as assigned • Serves as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program • Certification as a Medical Technologist MT by the American Medical Technologists AMT or as a Medical Technologist MT or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS by the American Society for Clinical Pathology ASCP or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty • State licensure if required by law • Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire
