Job Title: Medical Lab Technician
Location: Rock Hill, SC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Saturday – Sunday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Compensation:

  • MLT: $25.03 – $38.80/hour (based on experience)

  • MLS: $28.66 – $44.42/hour (based on experience)

  • Shift Differential:

    • MLT: $2.75/hour

    • MLS: $3.00/hour

Sign-On Bonus:$10,000 (Paid over 2 years)
Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) to join a newly established clinical team in Rock Hill, SC. This is a unique opportunity to help build a strong laboratory culture from the ground up within a modern, advanced emergency care environment.

This role is responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, and tissue specimens, ensuring accurate and timely results to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines as a generalist

  • Collect, process, and distribute specimens accurately and efficiently

  • Perform phlebotomy and ensure proper patient identification and safety protocols

  • Analyze and interpret laboratory results; verify critical values as needed

  • Prepare and package specimens for transport in compliance with regulations

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and supply inventory

  • Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance processes (e.g., CAP, Joint Commission, AABB)

  • Assist in training new employees and students

  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements

Minimum QualificationsMedical Lab Technician (MLT)

  • Education:

    • Associate degree or equivalent

    • Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program

  • Experience:

    • 0–2 years of experience preferred

  • Certification:

    • Registry eligible or certified through ASCP, AMT, or equivalent within 12 months of hire

  • Must meet CLIA requirements for high complexity testing
Medical Lab Scientist (MLS)

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field, or equivalent training (including military training per CLIA guidelines)

  • Certification:

    • Registry eligible or certified through ASCP, AMT, NCA, or CSMLS within 12 months of hire

  • Additional Requirements:

    • International degrees must be evaluated by an approved agency within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 months to 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in an acute care setting

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
