Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Technologist Chemistry

Full-Time | Evening & Overnight Shifts Available

Job Summary

We are seeking dedicated Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) and Medical Technologists/Medical Laboratory Scientists (MT/MLS) to join our Chemistry Laboratory on Evening and Overnight shifts.

In this role, you will perform high-complexity laboratory testing utilizing state-of-the-art instrumentation while ensuring accurate and timely patient results. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex clinical chemistry testing according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate automated chemistry analyzers and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Perform quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and proficiency testing in accordance with CAP, CLIA, and departmental standards.
  • Review, verify, and accurately report laboratory results.
  • Recognize abnormal or unexpected results and initiate appropriate follow-up testing or corrective action.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance and document corrective actions as required.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and records.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety policies and infection prevention protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with pathologists, physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff to ensure exceptional patient care.
  • Participate in continuing education, competency assessments, and departmental quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with training and mentoring new laboratory personnel and students as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience Required

  • One (1) year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Clinical rotations or student laboratory experience will be considered for entry-level candidates.
  • Previous chemistry laboratory experience in a hospital or reference laboratory is preferred.

Education

Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related biological science.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program preferred.

Medical Laboratory Technician

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program preferred.

Alternatively, candidates who meet CLIA '88 qualifications for high-complexity testing will also be considered.

Certifications

  • ASCP (MLS/MT or MLT) certification preferred.
  • AMT certification may also be considered.
  • Must meet all applicable CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing
