We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist with a specialty in Microbiology to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time permanent position in the Healthcare industry. The chosen candidate will be expected to apply their expertise in microbiology to analyze and interpret medical laboratory results, conduct research, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of tests. This role is critical to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and the successful candidate will be a key contributor to the overall patient care process.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform complex microbiological tests on patient specimens to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
2. Interpret and report test results accurately and promptly.
3. Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to provide the best patient care.
4. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results.
5. Develop and implement new laboratory procedures and protocols.
6. Conduct research to stay abreast of developments in microbiology and to contribute to the field.
7. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
8. Train and mentor junior staff and students.
9. Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
10. Assist in the management of the microbiology laboratory, including inventory management and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
2. Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with a focus on microbiology.
3. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
4. Advanced knowledge of microbiological testing techniques, procedures, and equipment.
5. Proficiency in laboratory information systems.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and ethical professional conduct.
10. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
11. Willingness to participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
