    Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Lab Technologist

    Job Description

    Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing all procedures related to assigned section and the laboratory in general. Recognizes and addresses conditions that affect test results. Interested individuals must have a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical lab science or medical technology.

    Department: Lab

    Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours a week required

    MLS Requirements: BS Degree, MLS Board eligible

    MLS Pay: Based on experience, starting at $30.56

    MLS Sign on bonus: $10,000

    MLT: AS Degree, MLT Board eligible

    MLT Pay: Based on experience, starting at $29.08

    MLT Sign on bonus: $5,000

    Responsibilities

    Assists physicians in bone marrow preparation., Collects blood and swab samples from patients when necessary., Inventories supplies and reagents., Maintains a clean, neat work area and decontaminates area when needed., Participates in continuing education programs., Performs all testing activity related to that assigned section of the laboratory, including Hematology; Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank and Chemistry, using instruments related to that testing.  Reports test results to authorized personnel., Performs daily quality control in area assigned and records data., Performs preventative maintenance on instruments., Performs proficiency testing for CAP Surveys., Provides training for staff in department procedures, quality assurance and instrumentation., Recognizes problems that adversely affect test results., Seeks opportunities to improve department performance and productivity.

    Compensation

    Estimated Compensation Range

    $30.56 - $47.37
