Position Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory testing to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role ensures accurate and reliable test results through adherence to quality control standards, proper specimen handling, and compliance with laboratory procedures and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens
  • Prepare, process, and analyze specimens according to established laboratory procedures
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through quality control and standard operating procedures
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment while performing routine calibrations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to communicate and interpret laboratory findings
  • Maintain accurate records of tests performed and patient results
  • Follow all laboratory safety standards, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field required
  • Certification through a recognized organization such as ASCP or AMT preferred
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems and computer applications
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and regulatory standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment
