Job Summary

Somerset Community College is accepting applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician Instructor/Phlebotomy position.

Job Duties:

  • Teach medical laboratory technician and phlebotomy courses;
  • Coordinate clinical schedules and documentation for phlebotomy students;
  • Participate in evaluation of student achievement;
  • Participate in curriculum assessment and development;
  • Participate in review and development of program policies and procedures;
  • Serve on program committees and participate in assessment of program outcomes;
  • Supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, with some travel to clinic sites, as needed; Demonstrate adequate knowledge and proficiency in assigned content areas of expertise;
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the appropriate level;
  • Other duties include academic advising, internal and external service, professional development and leadership;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate''s of Applied Science degree, or higher, from an accredited university or college in Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT);
  • Three years of related work experience;
  • Current certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) with certification to work in Kentucky.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) OR Medical Technology (MT);
  • Classroom, laboratory, or clinical teaching experience.
