Job Description Summary: 

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you are responsible for preparing and testing internal patient samples for urinalysis utilizing an LC-MS system. Strong attention to detail combined with reliable and consistent work are key to being successful in this position. 

 

This job is a full-time, benefited position at Summit Spine & Joint Centers that reports to the Director of Clinical Operations.The assigned location will be in Southern Pines, NC. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surfaces clean and orderly. 

  • Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting; calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures; monitoring quality control measures and protocols. 

  • Analyzes urine samples to determine concentrations of specific analytes in relation to treatments prescribed by SSJC physicians. 

  • Accurately documenting in EMR system 

  • Providing updates on testing process as well as reiterating test results if necessary 

  • Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. 

  • Maintains patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential. 

 

Skills And Abilities: 

  • Must be responsive and comfortable handling and processing urine samples 

  • Detail-oriented 

  • Experience using eClinicalWorks or other EHR system preferred 

  • Prior experience with LCMS  

 

Education And Experience: 

  •  

  • MLT(ASCP) certification   

  • 1-year clinical experience preferred
  • Associate's degree , bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
