Job Summary and Qualifications
The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for prompt and accurate performance of routine, complex, and specialized clinical laboratory procedures as assigned by the Laboratory Manager. The Medical Laboratory Technician demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
What you will do in this role:
• Performs assigned diagnostic test procedures accurately in accordance with the written policies and procedures. • Adheres to quality control protocols. • Performs and documents prescribed maintenance procedures. • Reports work accurately, legibly, and in accordance with the criteria for abnormal and critical values. • Works efficiently and responds to stats and other priority tests to provide optimum patient care. • Interacts professionally with lab personnel and with other hospital departments. • Assists with evaluation of equipment and procedures, orients new employees, and works with students. • May be assigned to other tasks and/or required to vary schedule to meet the needs of the Laboratory and the patients.
Qualifications
Associate Degree Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
