We are looking for a Medical Office Specialist for a busy Pediatric office to work our front desk on a daily basis and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. As a Medical Office Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for our practice. Our Medical Office Specialists duties include offering administrative support across the organization. You will welcome guests and greet our patient's who visit the practice. To be successful as a Medical Office Specialist, you should have a pleasant personality, as this is also a customer service role. You should be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position. This role may require working in shifts, so flexibility is a plus.


Responsibilities


  • Greet and check in all patients for office appointments
  • Obtain patient demographic and verifying insurance information
  • Enter all demographic information into EMR
  • Scan pertinent patient information into EMR
  • Obtain patient authorization for medical records release (HIPAA Compliance)
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Answer phones
  • Monitor and review patient schedules for next day office appointments
  • Work as part of team with physicians and staff
  • Assist with other duties as assigned
Skills


  • Proven work experience as a Medical Office Specialist
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Customer service attitude
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma
