Medical Payment Posting Specialist

Our client is a well-established and growing home health agency dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the communities they serve. They are seeking an experienced Medical Payment Posting Specialist to join their revenue cycle team.

This fully remote position is ideal for a detail-oriented healthcare finance professional with experience posting insurance and patient payments, reconciling remittances, and resolving payment discrepancies. The successful candidate will play an essential role in ensuring accurate payment posting, maintaining financial integrity, and supporting the overall revenue cycle process.

Candidates with previous home health or home care experience are strongly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Accurately post insurance and patient payments within the billing system

  • Process electronic remittance advice (ERA/835) files and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)

  • Review and interpret remittance files to ensure accurate payment application

  • Identify and resolve denial codes, adjustment codes, and payment discrepancies

  • Apply Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and commercial insurance adjustment codes appropriately

  • Reconcile daily deposits, EFT payments, checks, and remittance reports

  • Research and resolve underpayments, overpayments, unapplied cash, and payment variances

  • Verify contractual adjustments and ensure payments are applied accurately

  • Collaborate with billing, collections, intake, and authorization teams to resolve payment-related issues

  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready financial records

  • Assist with month-end reconciliation, reporting, and additional revenue cycle initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations, payer requirements, and agency policies

Qualifications

  • Previous medical payment posting experience required

  • Experience processing EOBs, ERAs, and 835 remittance files required

  • Home health or home care experience strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payment processes

  • Understanding of CARC (Claim Adjustment Reason Codes) and RARC (Remittance Advice Remark Codes)

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and electronic billing systems

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a remote environment

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required
