About the Role

We're hiring a Medical Physicist for a 3-month onsite contract assignment supporting the Oncology Administration department at a leading healthcare facility in Boise, Idaho.

This role focuses on radiation therapy quality assurance, treatment planning support, radiation safety, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of cancer treatment in a clinical oncology environment.

You'll work closely with physicians, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and clinical staff while supporting advanced oncology treatment programs and maintaining high standards of patient safety and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate brings strong radiotherapy physics expertise, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative clinical mindset.

Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $160.52/hour

What You'll Do

Treatment Planning & Patient Care

  • Support and oversee radiation treatment planning and execution
  • Review treatment plans for safety, quality, and accuracy
  • Analyze imaging and treatment data for clinical decision-making
  • Ensure optimal radiation dose delivery to target treatment areas
  • Explain treatment plans and procedures to patients
  • Support treatment adjustments and modifications as needed

Radiation Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Manage radiotherapy quality assurance programs
  • Conduct equipment calibration, testing, and performance verification
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and protocols
  • Maintain documentation of QA procedures and testing activities
  • Provide guidance on radiation protection and safety practices

Imaging & Clinical Data Analysis

  • Analyze medical imaging data for treatment planning support
  • Process and interpret diagnostic and physics-related data
  • Support optimization of imaging systems and image quality
  • Utilize treatment planning and dosimetry software systems

Equipment Management

  • Troubleshoot and investigate equipment-related issues
  • Support equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning
  • Maintain equipment maintenance schedules and documentation
  • Ensure clinical systems remain operational and compliant

Education & Clinical Collaboration

  • Train and educate healthcare and technical staff
  • Provide in-service education on radiation safety and physics principles
  • Mentor junior staff and students when applicable
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and oncology teams

Research & Professional Development

  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives
  • Analyze treatment outcomes and performance metrics
  • Stay current with advancements in medical physics and oncology technology
  • Participate in professional committees and meetings as needed

Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Master's or PhD in Medical Physics or related field required
  • ABR (American Board of Radiology) certification required
  • Current state medical physics license or eligibility required
  • CAMPEP-accredited program completion preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of Medical Physics experience
  • Radiotherapy physics experience required
  • Quality assurance and radiation safety experience required
  • Clinical patient interaction experience preferred
  • Diagnostic imaging physics experience preferred
  • Research or academic experience preferred
  • Traveler or contract Medical Physics experience a plus

Technical Skills

  • Treatment planning system expertise
  • Dosimetry software proficiency
  • Strong computational and data analysis skills
  • Familiarity with dose calculation algorithms
  • Experience with QA software and imaging systems
  • Experience with:

    • EPIC
    • ARIA RadOnc
    • Shared Drive / CTC-RadOnc systems preferred

Clinical Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of radiation physics principles
  • Knowledge of oncology treatment protocols
  • Expertise in radiation safety and dose calculations
  • Familiarity with diagnostic imaging modalities
  • Strong understanding of treatment planning optimization
