    Position at Danbury Hospital

    Title: Medical Physicist - New Milford Hospital Radiation Therapy. Full-time, 40-hours per week, 8- hour shifts, 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.

    Summary: Responsible for all aspects of Radiological Physics program including Radiation Safety, Teaching, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Physics.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Calibrates linear accelerators according to APPM TG-21 protocol for x-rays and electrons and checks by outside independent means. Measures alignment and accuracy & calibrates superficial unit.

    2. Measures beam data necessary for patient dose distribution calculations using water phantom. Percent depth dose, output factors, off center ratios, wedge data.

    3. Establishes and maintains quality control program for two linear accelerators. Superficial unit.

    4. Provides calculation of dose distribution for external beam treatments. For radioactive implants in brachytherapy treatments.

    5. Checks RTT's manual treatment MU calculations, checks patient charts weekly, summarizes patient doses. 

    6. Oversees and participates in quality control program for diagnostic x-ray, CT, MR, and Nuclear Medicine. Reviews and assures radiation safety policies of entire department, assures MQSA physics standards are met. 

    7. Acts as Radiation Safety Officer, oversees radiation safety program. Maintains and reviews film badges. Maintains NRC license and compliance with NRC regulations. 

    8. Teaches radiologic physics to radiology residents, prepares them for written board examination. 

    9. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

    10. Performs other duties as assigned. 

    Education & Experience Required:

    • Master Degree and board certification in Diagnostic Radiology Physics and Therapeutic Radiology Physics.
    • Minimum Experience: five years 
    • Desired: Clinical experience for 5 years

    Salary Range: $99.09 - $184.02 hourly (Pay per years of relative experience)
