    General Purpose

    The Medical Receptionist provides friendly and professional customer service to patients and visitors, assists with front desk and telephone inquiries, schedules appointments, verifies insurance and eligibility, and processes patient payments.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Greet and assist patients and visitors in person and by phone.
    • Register new patients and update patient information in the EHR.
    • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments and follow up on no-shows.
    • Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, authorizations, co-pays, and patient financial responsibility.
    • Assist with program eligibility and sliding fee requirements.
    • Collect and process cash, check, and credit card payments; issue receipts and post payments.
    • Reconcile daily cash collections and prepare deposits.
    • Maintain accurate records, daily EHR worklists, and statistics.
    • Provide general administrative and front desk support.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Medical Assistant required.
    • Ability to use Microsoft Word for basic correspondence.
    • Ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
    • Must be able to use a calculator.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish), (English/Punjabi), or (English/Hmong) preferred but not required.
    • Ability to adapt to specific environment and duties.
    • Demonstrate clear knowledge of Ampla Health's clinic structure, standards, procedures, and protocols.
    • Must have neat and legible handwriting.
    • Must be able to interact with patients courteously and calmly.
    • Ability to communicate well with the public.
    • Ability to hear and communicate effectively by telephone and in person and speak clearly.
    • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels).
    • Must have vision adequate to read memos, computer screens, registration forms, and other clinic documents.
    • Must have high manual dexterity.
    • Ability to reach above shoulder level and sit, stand, bend, squat, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, and twist/turn as needed.
    • May be exposed to contagious/infectious diseases.
