    Job Description

    Capitol View Transitional Care Center is a state-of-the-art true transitional care unit (TCU) located in Regions Hospital (we are part of the HealthPartners organization as a separate nonprofit organization.) We provide quality care to patients from 18+ years of age who are in need of a short-term stay. Our average length of stay is 17 days.     The Health Unit Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for patients, families, visitors, and healthcare staff. In this role, you will provide administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient daily operations and an exceptional patient experience. You will be responsible for the following job duties and responsibilities:

    • Greet patients, families, and visitors and provide assistance as needed.
    • Validate parking passes and escort visitors to patient rooms or other hospital locations.
    • Maintain compliance with patient rights, privacy standards, and HIPAA regulations.
    • Answer incoming telephone calls promptly, transfer calls, and take messages.
    • Schedule medical appointments and arrange transportation for patients.
    • Assist and complete patient admissions and discharges in Epic.
    • Maintain organized, accurate, and up-to-date patient files and forms.
    • Process laboratory, X-ray, MRI, and CT requests and follow up on results as needed.
    • Keep census information current and accurate.
    • Attend required staff and facility meetings.
    • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

    FTE: 1.0; 40 hours per week

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma/Equivalent
    • Ability to read, write, and understand medical and nursing terminology
    • Ability to sort, file, assemble charts, record notes, forms, reports and physician orders
    • Use of copy/fax machine, telephone systems and office equipment
    • Must be able to uphold the standards of the MN Department of Health; be familiar with and abide by the federally mandated HIPAA regulations which protect the confidentiality of our patients and employees.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Health care/medical record experience
    • One year experience in a healthcare setting
    • EPIC knowledge
