Major/Essential Functions

  • Cell culture work.
  • Maintain lab equipment.
  • Person-specific lab duties (making buffers, aliquoting reagents, calibrating pH meter).
  • Prepares basic solutions.
  • Keeps lab and equipment clean.
  • Prepares and maintains lab notebooks.
  • Help plan and coordinate collaborative projects.
  • Helps maintain lab inventory.
  • Assists in designing experiments.
  • Assists with lab infrastructure.
  • Assists in protocol development.
  • Develops protocols for in vitro studies.
  • Reads current literature.
  • Attends weekly lab meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The candidate must have excellent molecular biology skills required for quantitative real-time PCR, cloning, primary cell culture.
  • Experience with research animal (mouse or rat) handling and welfare. 
  • A cover letter describing the specific interest in the position, relevant experiences, career goals, and how the candidate fits the minimum and preferred qualifications is required as part of the application package.  The letter should reflect the candidate’s own writing and not generated by artificial intelligence tools.
  • Evidence of several scientific presentations in national or international conferences over the past three years.
  • High proficiency in mammalian cell culture (primary cells), cell transductions using viral RNA or transfections using lentiviral particles, western blots using chemiluminescence, multiplex ELISA, and flow cytometry.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
