Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Location: Remote (Eligible candidates must reside in KS, MO, IL or FL)

Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday | 8:30am-5:00pm

Compensation:$25.01 per hour + full benefits package


Position Purpose:

This mission centered position is responsible for evaluating donors' medical and social histories to determine eligibility for transplantation based on current policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Proficient navigation of electronic medical records systems. 
  • Accurately interpret donor medical and social history to evaluate donor eligibility based on current policies and regulations. 
  • Accurately document relevant medical information, including laboratory and infectious disease testing results, into the eye bank donor database. 
  • Utilize the quality management system to document necessary information and reports. 
  • Prompt and professional communication with internal and external customers. 
  • Collaborate with hospital staff and physicians to seek, receive, and compile a comprehensive medical chart. 
  • Conduct physician consults with attending, primary care, and infectious disease physicians as needed.  
  • Effective communication with Medical Directors to ensure compliance with current regulations. 
  • Effective communication with partner agencies to ensure sharing of pertinent donor information. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn, interpret, apply, and retain information from Saving Sight's SOPs, EBAA Medical Standards, and FDA regulations. 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and phone communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to work independently, with limited direction, and in a team environment. 
  • Ability to work with distraction and to multi-task with frequent interruptions. 
  • Must be able to handle information in a confidential, objective, and professional manner. 

Basic Requirements:

  • Prior experience with medical terminology required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, general databases, and web-based applications. 
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by the organization. 
  • Must have reliable transportation

Preferred Requirements:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a healthcare-related field or other relevant experience preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent periods of intense concentration, attention to detail, and accuracy. 
  • Ability to handle mental and physical strain involved in use of printed materials, prolonged use of computer screens, and extensive phone usage. 
  • Moderate manual dexterity for basic keyboarding.  
  • Long periods of sitting and/or standing may be required.   

Working Environment:

  • Fully remote position; must residewithin a one‑hour commute of a Saving Sight location and be available to report on‑site if needed
  • Position may involve frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • May require on-call, weekend, or after-hours services for internal and external customers.
