Overview

The Medical Science Liaison serves as a scientific ambassador, building and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) while driving the generation and dissemination of high-quality clinical evidence and real-world outcomes data to advance Cook Medical''s innovation and patient impact. This role develops and executes global clinical data strategy in alignment with divisional objectives, ensuring programs are efficient, compliant, and responsive to both external scientific needs and internal commercial and regulatory priorities.

This position will support our Endoscopy specialty within the MedSurg division.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product management and other cross-functional teams to assess the need for and value of clinical experience to support early-stage technology roadmap assessments, and to enable commercial and regulatory strategy of product portfolios
  • Engage KOLs, and professional organizations to build robust clinical evidence portfolios, gather strategic insights, and support evidence generation initiatives.
  • Develop and execute strategies for scientific exchange, including peer-reviewed publications, congress presentations, and educational programs with Medical Education, while maintaining clear boundaries between scientific exchange and promotion in full compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Identify clinical evidence gaps and prioritize studies and pathways that accelerate commercial success
  • Collaborate with Cook Research Inc. and Medical Affairs function to facilitate clinical research, investigator communications, and the timely generation of real-world evidence
  • Function as project subject matter expert for Investigator Sponsored Research proposals
  • Oversee budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure efficient execution and accountability for project deliverables for Investigator Sponsored Research

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required, or experience of such kind and amount as to provide a comparable background
  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in clinical development/medical launch preparation, medical device, and/or a relevant therapeutic area preferred
  • Prior experience with relevant specialty products and related procedures required
  • Prior experience working with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and industry leaders required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Practices (GCP), clinical study design, and regulatory and reimbursement environments in the medical device industry
  • Deep clinical and scientific knowledge across relevant disease states and product portfolio, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings for diverse audiences
  • Thorough understanding of real-world evidence generation, regulatory processes, and payer/reimbursement systems
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to engage physician leaders and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management, budget oversight, timeline management, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities
  • High scientific rigor, ethical judgment, and unwavering commitment to compliance

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including overnight and weekend assignments as needed
  • Work under general office and field-based environmental conditions
