    Description

    Position Summary

    The Medical Scribe is an entry level position whose responsibility is to capture accurate and detailed documentation (handwritten, electronic, or otherwise) of an encounter in real time. Scribes are not permitted to make independent decisions or translations while capturing or entering information into the health record or electronic health record (EHR) beyond what is directed by the provider. Documentation will be in compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, Medical Staff By-Laws, and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. The scribe is not permitted to directly assist with patient care.

    Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities

    Enter documentation and information into the EHR as directed by the provider.

    Locate information for review by the provider.

    Assist the provider in navigating the EHR.

    Research information requested by the provider.

    All other duties not specifically assigned.

    Position Requirements

    Education: High school diploma or GED required.

    Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in field or profession in medical office preferred.

    Technical Skills: Medical terminology knowledge preferred; Typing and computer skills preferred.

    Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: N/A

    Status: Part-Time

    Schedule: Wednesday and Friday
