Description

Position Title: Medical Services Representative

Pay Grade: S-2

Hourly Rate: $17.00/hour

Division: As assigned

FSLA: Non-Exempt

Union Status: Union

POSITION SUMMARY

With limited supervision and direction ensures that client issues are resolved in a timely manner, and serves as a medical provider liaison related to client concerns, scheduling and billing.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

The position provides no direct supervision to health department staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position is under the supervision of the assigned Manager and Division Director.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Receives and places phone calls, answering questions from clients and providers withspeed, accuracy, and professionalism. Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Performs data entry, and uses internet, software programs and Electronic MedicalRecords systems with accuracy and with minimal supervision.
  • Advocates for, and coordinates with clients and providers to provide timely and high-quality medical services.
  • Prioritizes, plans and completes assigned tasks.
  • Maintains files as required by organizing, sorting and filing various materials.
  • Maintains daily operational procedures and monitors office equipment and supplies.

Typical Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associate Degree in Business with two (2) years related experience, medical billing experience preferred,

  • OR -

Graduation from high school, the equivalent of one (1) year medical billing education and two (2) years of related experience, medical billing experience preferred,

  • AND -

Proficiency in various word processing programs.

Ability to accurately type 50 wpm in a word processing program.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE ABILITIES

  • The ability to sit, flex, stand, reach, and bend.
  • The physical strength to lift, carry, and transport materials/equipment are equivalent tothirty (30) pounds.
  • Visual acuity, auditory ability, and clear written and verbal communication ability.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability for data input into various computer programs.
  • The ability to maintain professional behavior at all times.

Supplemental Information

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must reside within St. Clair County, IL or be willing to relocate to St. Clair County within six (6) months from hire date.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • A dependable automobile for use in position if needed.
  • Proof of auto insurance that meets or exceeds the minimum limits of liability as required by the State of Illinois. Employees are required to provide a copy of their current insurance card and the declaration page from the insurance policy.
  • The ability to work necessary hours to meet the position requirements including evenings and/or weekends as assigned.
  • May require provision of services at off-site locations.
  • Adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to OSHA guidelines.
  • Health Department employees:

o Must be current on CDC Healthcare Personnel Vaccine Recommendations, which include Hepatitis B, MMR, Td/Tdap, Varicella (chickenpox) and Meningococcal if over 65. Influenza and COVID vaccines are recommended and encouraged, but not required at this time and maybe subject to change.

oAre required to have a TB test upon hire and at separation of employment.

  • All employees must adhere to the St. Clair County Personnel Code.
  • Position contingent upon continued grant funding.
