Medical Stop Loss Underwriter - Remote!
A growing and innovative organization in the healthcare insurance and risk solutions space is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Medical Underwriting Analyst to support its Stop Loss underwriting team. This role plays a critical part in evaluating underwriting data, analyzing risk parameters, and supporting accurate and timely underwriting decisions across self-funded and stop loss insurance programs. Base salary range: $60,000 – $70,000 annually
Key Responsibilities
Review underwriting submissions for accuracy and completeness prior to quote release
Validate underwriting data and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines
Analyze specific and aggregate claims experience and risk parameters
Review large claim information to identify potential risks and emerging trends
Assist Underwriters with risk assessment and underwriting evaluations for stop loss and self-funded plans
Prepare underwriting summaries, group write-ups, and quote recommendations for Senior Underwriter review
Ensure state and regulatory compliance requirements are met
Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and data integrity across systems
Support operational efficiencies through strong analytical and organizational skills
Qualifications
2–4 years of insurance industry experience, preferably within:
Medical Stop loss underwriting
Health insurance or self-funded plan environments
Underwriting support, analyst, or coordinator roles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
Experience working with underwriting systems, databases, or rating tools preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or a related field
Progress toward insurance designations such as AU, AINS, CPCU, HIA, or FLMI is a plus
