Responsibilities:

The Medical Support Assistant shall perform receptionist functions in support of Veterans Health Administration, including but not limited to: 

  • Screens and receives phone calls in a courteous and timely manner
  • Responds to telephone inquiries regarding delivery of services
  • Perform appointment scheduling, tracking, pre- and post- appointment contacts as required
  • Receive medical records and ensure all necessary health and administrative information are processed into the proper Records Systems
  • Coordinates and authorizes care with external community care providers
  • Access computers to utilize Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel, and various electronic systems
  • Process community care consults in associated electronic systems
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external medical providers, reception staff, patients, and other third parties
  • Provide friendly and quality customer service to all patients, patient families, office and medical staff
  • Various front desk administrative duties, as needed
Qualifications & Physical Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Minimum of 6 months of customer service experience
  • Ability to type 50 WPM
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Oral and written proficiency in English

Security Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust/Suitability Clearance
  • Must be a United States citizen
