Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Cerner is required.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience; if strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred.
Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. Holiday time off cannot be guaranteed prior to arrival. Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/ENAH approval. Blackout dates during this assignment: Labor Day weekend 8/30-9/1, Halloween 10/30-11/2, Thanksgiving 11/26-30.
Unit Details: Float pool may cover 6 North Trauma Surgical, 5 South Neuroscience, 5 North MedSurg/Oncology, 3 South Orthopedics, and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology. 6 North Trauma Surgical cares for general surgery and vascular surgery patients; required skills include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. 5 South Neuroscience cares for CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative disease, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; required skills include IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, and restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology includes MS/oncology patients, palliative care, and ETOH withdrawal; high-acuity, fast-paced MedSurg. Skills include trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. Telemetry is monitored on hallway monitors and by tele techs. 3 South Orthopedics includes orthopedic and spine patients such as joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; skills include PCA pumps, negative pressure dressings, dressing changes, foley care, and hemovac/JP drains. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology includes urology, ENT, ortho, and MedSurg patients; skills include trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and nurse-driven foley protocol. Typically 1:4 ratio; RNs are expected to assist with turns, baths, and ADLs. Support includes CNAs when available, HUC/receptionist support, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, hospitalists, and charge nurses who rarely take assignments. RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings q4 hours. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling; uses Smart Square.
Floating Requirements: May float to like units/patient locations: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.
7 days maximum time off.
