    Job Description

    A 267-bed hospital in Fort Walton Beach, Florida is seeking a Medical Surgical Neuro RN to join its nursing team. The facility features an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, a Cancer Care Center, open-heart surgery services, a main emergency room, a dedicated pediatric ER, and two freestanding ERs. This is a full-time, on-site position with a daytime schedule.

    This RN position sits within a 30-bed unit supported by approximately 29 FTEs, providing direct care to ill, injured, and recovering adult patients through a collaborative, patient-centered model. The nurse collects comprehensive assessment data, analyzes findings to determine diagnoses or clinical issues, and develops individualized care plans with expected outcomes tailored to each patient and situation. A central component of the role involves serving as a patient safety advocate within the interdisciplinary team, ensuring effective use of time, supplies, and equipment. The nurse also provides education to patients and families regarding medications, procedures, and treatments, supporting them at every stage of their stay.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver direct patient care to adult patients within a 30-bed med-surg neuro unit
    • Collect comprehensive assessment data and analyze findings to identify diagnoses and clinical issues
    • Develop individualized care plans with expected outcomes tailored to each patient
    • Serve as a patient safety advocate within the interdisciplinary care team
    • Ensure effective and efficient use of time, supplies, and equipment throughout each shift
    • Educate patients and families on medications, procedures, and treatment plans
    • Support patients through illness, injury, and recovery within a collaborative care model
    • Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation for all patient encounters

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of one year of acute care RN experience required
    • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida, Multistate, or able to obtain licensure prior to start required
    • Nursing Diploma or Associate's degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
    • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association as a Healthcare Provider required prior to start
    • NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

    • Days only, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
