We are seeking qualified and experienced Registered Nurses to work in our Medical-Surgical unit. We are currently looking to fill one (1.0 FTE) full-time, and two (0.5 FTE's) part-time Medical-Surgical nurse positions. A typical shift duration is 8-hours.
Under direction, the incumbent will perform varied professional nursing duties with primary emphasis on professional nursing care for hospital or patients; treat and educate patients, their families and the public about various medical conditions; record medical histories and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical machinery; administer treatment and medications; assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation; and perform other duties as assigned and required by assigned clinical setting. The incumbent will be responsible for the care of general medical-surgical patients, such as Telemetry, Oncology, and Pediatric patients.
The ideal candidate is fully competent to:- Provide hands-on care to patients, practicing in an evidence-based manner.
- Practice within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirement, standards of care, and hospital policies.
- Perform all steps of the nursing process, including assessing patients; interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care; coordinating care with other providers; and teaching the patient and family the knowledge and skills needed to manage their care and prevent complications.
- Partner with the patient’s family wherever possible, considering all aspects of care, to deliver family centered care.
- Monitor the quality of nursing care provided.
- Take responsibility for his/her own professional development, including licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications, and maintaining current knowledge regarding assigned patient population.
- Contribute to the profession of nursing through such activities as teaching others, sharing expertise in unit or hospital wide.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
- Chemotherapy Certification is preferred.
- Recent acute inpatient medical surgical experience for greater than 1 year is also preferred.
