Job Summary:

The Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct clinical care to patients while ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality nursing practices. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care on a per-shift basis, while also supporting unit-level operations and supervising delegated staff.

 

This position plays a key role in maintaining clinical excellence, supporting leadership initiatives, and ensuring appropriate resource utilization in alignment with hospital standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
  • Provide age-specific, patient-centered care in accordance with established standards
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to appropriate clinical staff
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Support leadership in maintaining quality, safety, and staff competency

 

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license (or eligibility) in applicable state
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Strong clinical judgment and patient care skills
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing
  • BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS Certifications
