Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Georgia license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed.

Additional Details:

Required Credentials: BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) required; traveler must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance.

Preferred Credentials: Nephrology nursing certification preferred.

Special Requests: RTO requests require manager approval.

Unit Details: Patient population includes orthopedic and trauma cases such as fractures, head trauma/hemorrhage, osteomyelitis, post-op surgical patients, and patients with acute or chronic disease and common med-surg comorbidities including diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances. Skills and procedures include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, titratable heart-rate drips but not blood-pressure drips, and renal/fluid-management discharge education. Equipment includes Alaris pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, portable Dynamap vital sign monitors, bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP and Hemovac drains, PCA pain management, and suction machines. Department support includes 2-3 CNAs per shift for vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulation, turning, hourly rounding, transport assistance, and blood bank pickup; a unit secretary 7a-11p and a house-wide call secretary 11p-7a; charge nurse may have patients; nurses draw from CVLs; PICC team, discharge nurses, and central telemetry monitoring; and RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage 24/7.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 6 weekend shifts on a 6-week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts). No call. Holiday expectation: work one shift for Thanksgiving Day or the day after, one shift for 12/24 or 12/25, and one shift for 12/31 or 1/1.

Floating Requirements: Float to all adult med-surg/telemetry units in house.

14 days maximum time off

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

Proof of identification required

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) or the alternative certifications RN-BC, CNN
