Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 18 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 months worked in the last 12 months.
• Travel experience is preferred.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• ASN completion required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

Required Skills/Experience: - 7N/S Ortho assignments require ortho experience and spinal precautions. - General Med/Tele skillset: stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), PCA pumps, and medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF.

Special Requests: - Up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays; time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours cannot be met.
Unit Details: - Home unit will be assigned on the first day of orientation. - Possible home units/patient populations include: ADTU Med/Tele overflow supporting inpatient units and ED holding with CHF, COPD, chest pain workup, stroke s/s, respiratory issues, and similar diagnoses; 7N/S Ortho Surgical with general medical overflow and surgical patients including total joint replacements, spinal surgery, and shoulder procedures; 6S Medical Telemetry with COPD, respiratory illnesses, diabetic ulcer, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, altered mental status, and ESRD; 5N Surgical Telemetry with general medical telemetry overflow and surgical patients including bariatric weight loss surgery, urology procedures, general post-op, GI bleed, small bowel obstruction, and foot/ankle surgery; 4N Cardiac Medical Telemetry with congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, hypertension, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, endocarditis, and initial cardiac workup for chest pain and/or shortness of breath, including prep for cardiac stress tests; 3N Medical Telemetry with end stage renal disease, PD, fluid overload, sickle cell, DM, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health; 2N Medical with Med/Tele observation and detox patients including new diagnosis DM, chest pain, rule-out stroke, abdominal pain, GI bleed, detox, suicidal ideation, and altered mental status. - RN ratio 1:5-6; critical surge 1:7-8. CNA ratio 1:6-12. - Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors. - Support includes CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse may or may not have patients, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, IV/VAT team coverage 11a-7p and 11p-7a, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, and no telemetry tech.
Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend. - No call. - Travelers will work 75% of holidays. - Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.
Floating Requirements: - Float to all units within scope at Mercy and to other Region 1 facilities as needed within scope of practice: Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds only).
6 days maximum time off
1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months
1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months
