Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit required. Heparin gtt experience required.

Special Requests: Block scheduling may be available based on staffing.

Unit Details: Nurse-patient ratios: days 1:4-5, nights 1:5-6. Common diagnoses/patient population: stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, other neuroscience cases, and some medical overflow. RNs are required to titrate drips; heparin drips are titrated based on PTT. Patient care tech support: days 1:9-10, evenings 1:9-10, nights 1:10-12. High-flow support for stable COVID patients only. House-wide telemetry; nurses do not read their own strips. Phillips monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend for both shifts. Every other holiday. No call.

Floating Requirements: Float in rotation with the rest of staff. General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team. If floated outside of a general unit for urgent need, assignments are limited to skills the clinician is competent to perform and are paired with a nurse trained for that unit.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission
