A Medical Technologist is needed for a hospital-based rapid-response laboratory in Englewood, FL, part of a statewide network supporting more than 250 acute and rehabilitation hospitals, physician practices, surgery centers, and commercial accounts across four Florida divisions. The broader laboratory infrastructure includes a fully automated esoteric core laboratory and dedicated histology and microbiology operations serving a wide range of clinical and anatomic pathology needs.

The role. Working within a hospital-based rapid-response laboratory, the Medical Technologist performs accurate and timely diagnostic testing — including stat procedures within established turnaround time targets — and exercises independent judgment in correlating and interpreting patient results, including delta checks. The technologist manages quality control procedures per protocol, handles critical and problem specimens, and ensures timely reporting of critical values. In the absence of a supervisor, the technologist assumes departmental responsibility as appropriate, reviews pending and result logs, resolves outstanding workload, and communicates effectively with relief staff to maintain continuity of care.

What we're looking for.
  • Associate degree (2-year) required; Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred
  • State of Florida Technologist License required
  • Florida Technologist License in one or more clinical specialty areas required — Generalist highly preferred; qualifying specialties include Blood Bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist preferred

Schedule. Full-time, night shift with rotating weekends.

Compensation. $27.09 - $37.92/hr
