A hospital located approximately one hour north of St. Petersburg, FL is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT) to join its laboratory team.
This is a full-time opportunity with evening and night shift openings and rotating weekends. The ideal candidate will be a strong laboratory generalist with experience across multiple benches, particularly blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform clinical laboratory testing across multiple laboratory departments, including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, and microbiology.
Accurately perform, evaluate, and report laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
Review test results for accuracy, identify abnormal and critical values, and follow appropriate protocols for result verification and reporting.
Perform quality control testing, document corrective actions, and maintain compliance with laboratory and regulatory requirements.
Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Process and evaluate patient specimens while ensuring proper identification, handling, and preparation.
Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate clinical team.
Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Follow established safety, infection control, chemical hygiene, and laboratory procedures.
Maintain accurate documentation and support regulatory inspections and quality initiatives.
Prioritize testing based on clinical urgency and maintain efficient turnaround times.
Rotate through multiple laboratory benches as needed to support department operations.
Participate in continuous quality improvement and other laboratory initiatives.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least one year of Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist experience preferred.
Florida Technologist License required or must be obtainable during the interview process.
