Our client, a healthcare organization specializing in clinical diagnostics, is hiring a Medical Technologist. The Medical Technologist independently performs and reports general and/or specialized laboratory tests in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures. This role ensures accurate, timely, and properly documented test results for physician review by validating results within the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and maintaining rigorous quality control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform and report laboratory tests with appropriate documentation in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Validate test results in the LIS to support correct report generation for physician review; may enter data directly into the system.
  • Perform LIS functions within scope of responsibility, including worklists, outstanding reports, and patient registration.
  • Conduct and monitor quality control for all testing; ensure results meet established criteria prior to release.
  • Recognize factors affecting measurements/results and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Prepare samples per laboratory protocol, including labeling stains, reagents, and stock solutions for specimen processing.
  • Maintain required glassware and materials to support clinical laboratory testing.
  • Monitor inventory levels; report low supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies fall below par to prevent interruption of testing.
  • Recognize instrument/equipment failures, evaluate problems, troubleshoot as required, or coordinate internal/external corrective action.
  • May temporarily assume supervisory responsibility of a section during the supervisor’s absence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Training and qualifications obtained outside the United States must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. education by a nationally recognized organization (e.g., NACES/AICE or equivalent; ASCP registry, registry eligible, AMT, NCA, or CLS).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of laboratory science.
  • Minimal computer skills with the ability to operate required LIS functions.
  • Ability to follow lab policies and procedures precisely and consistently.

Some of the Benefits

  • Supportive team environment with clear laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Role-critical impact on patient care through accurate diagnostic testing.
  • Opportunity to work with LIS systems, quality controls, and clinical laboratory instrumentation.
