Performs all complexities of testing, complete Quality Control Data review and signoff, and assist with staff competency training within the clinical laboratory to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Help with restocking of lab supplies and some lab billing as assigned. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcares Mission, Vision and Values. Adheres to Brodstone Healthcares Standards of Behavior. Draws blood from patients (adults, children or infants) by venipuncture or capillary puncture as per procedure. Performs clinical laboratory analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid. Performs blood type, antibody screen, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Analyzes test results, enters test results in computerized report formats, and calls results according to laboratory policies for critical values. Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data. Performs routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedure. Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific laboratory instruments and documents data. Records on instrument logs, repairs, replacement and maintenance performed on equipment. Participates in orientation of new personnel. Keeps all patient information confidential and respects patients privacy. Follows all Safety and Infection Control policies as prescribed in hospital and laboratory policies/procedures. Performs high, moderate, and waived complexity of testing. Performs Quality Control Data review and signs off on correctness and accuracy. Assists with additional Training and Periodic Staff Competency testing/performance. Performs the duties of a Phlebotomist, Medical Laboratory Assistant, and Medical Laboratory Technician as needed. Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, Brodstone Healthcare quality improvement program, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry (or foreign equivalent).
