Description:
The Medication Affordability Program Pharmacist collaborates with the pharmacy technicians to support patients in accessing affordable medications by coordinating financial assistance programs, managing applications, and ensuring compliance with program requirements. This role works closely with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, providers, and patients to reduce medication cost barriers and improve adherence.
Support IMAP pharmacy technicians in areas that may require pharmacist knowledge/expertise/license including but not limited to the following:
Medication interchanges based on coverage and/or available programs
Preferred product by payor and/or available assistance program
Alternative dosage form
Clinical patient information/reviews for application process
Serve as a resource for the pharmacy technician in workflow
Educates patients on available medication use and/or financial assistance options and guides them through the process.
Documents all interactions and program activities in the pharmacy system or designated software.
Assist with quality assurance/improvement activities, training, data/metric analysis
