    Position Title

    Medication Assistance Coordinator

    Remote, Southlake Campus

    Position Summary / Career Interest:

    The Pharmacy Medication Assistance Coordinator collaborates with patients, patient financial advisors (PFA), and other healthcare professionals in designated ambulatory areas to provide comprehensive financial advocacy that assists patients and reduces negative financial impact on the organization. This position serves as an expert resource to pursue medication assistance that includes managing a patient's experience with copay assistance and free drug programs. The Pharmacy Medication Assistance Coordinator must demonstrate excellent time management, communication, and leadership skills. Serves as a role model and facilitates a professional customer-focused approach. Provides excellent customer service to communicate application needs with patients. Follows the enterrpise financial clearance and financial assistance policy and procedures. Maintains productivity, quality and customer service requirements according to department policy and procedure.

    Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

    • Coordinates pharmacy activities for defined areas of responsibility within the department. This may include, but is not limited to activities such as regulatory compliance, automation, medication access, sterile and non-sterile compounding, use and maintenance of equipment, and coordination of daily work.
    • Uses knowledge of state and federal laws to ensure areas of responsibility are compliant with regulations impacting the practice of pharmacy
    • Participates in the orientation, education, and coordination of training for pharmacy employees, residents, students, and staff.
    • Ensures alignment with pharmacy and health system standards across locations
    • Uses computer systems with advanced proficiency, including advanced or unique systems applicable to the areas of responsibility
    • Identifies opportunities for improvement through daily huddles, safety event reporting and observations of work, then uses lean principles to design and implement improvements using the "plan, do, check, act" method
    • Covers technician staffing shifts in their area of responsibility as needed by the department
    • Directs and organizes daily work of the department, ensuring effective use of pharmacy personnel resources
    • Uses excellent communication skills with patients and all internal stakeholders
    • Demonstrates a high level of accountability and ownership for their own work as well as the work of the department
    • Works with the pharmacy leadership team to ensure the success of pharmacy departmental goals
    • Demonstrates flexibility to cross cover duties of other team members and change areas of responsibility to meet the changing needs of our patients, our pharmacies and the organization.
    • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

    Required Education and Experience

    • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
    • 3 or more years in a comparable external setting OR
    • 2 or more years as a pharmacy technician at The University of Kansas Health System

    Required Licensure and Certification

    • Pharmacy Technician Registration - State Board of Pharmacy Kansas and/or Missouri - per work state upon Hire
    • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR
    • equivalent National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
    • Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.

    Preferred Licensure and Certification

    • Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR
    • other advanced certification applicable to practice area

    Knowledge Requirements

    • Basic keyboarding skills.
    • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
