JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the pharmacy director, obtains medication histories for new patients coming through the Emergency Department. Medication history information will be obtained from several sources, including the patient directly or the patient's caregiver, retail pharmacy, or physician office. Technician enters medication history into the electronic patient database or updates database if information already exists. Communicates completion of medication history to pharmacist on duty. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent. 

Licensure:   Registered as a Pharmacy Technician by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy required. Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a hospital or retail pharmacy technician.

Skills:     Attention to detail and accuracy, dependability and reliability, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, collaboration and teamwork.
