Job Title: Medication Technician / Wellness Associate

Part Time:  3pm-11pm & 11pm-7am

Position Overview

The Medication Technician / Wellness Associate provides direct resident care and medication-related services in an Assisted Living and/or Memory Care setting. This dual-role position supports resident safety, dignity, independence, and overall well-being while ensuring compliance with Florida regulations, physician orders, and John Knox Village policies. Assignment of duties is based on certification, training, and operational needs.

Role 1: Medication Technician

Role Summary

The Medication Technician assists residents with medication administration and related health services in accordance with state regulations and community standards. This role emphasizes accurate medication delivery, resident monitoring, documentation, and emergency response, while also supporting activities of daily living as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Administer routine prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with physician orders and Florida regulations.

  • Accurately document medication administration, observations, and resident responses.

  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Conduct routine wellness checks and rounds.

  • Respond appropriately to resident emergencies and secure assistance as needed.

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living when assigned.

Role 2: Wellness Associate

Role Summary

The Wellness Associate provides compassionate, hands-on personal care and support to Assisted Living residents while promoting dignity, safety, and independence. This role focuses on activities of daily living, wellness monitoring, documentation, resident engagement, and maintaining a safe and supportive living environment.

Essential Functions

  • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, and meals.

  • Monitor resident wellness and document care and changes in condition.

  • Conduct routine rounds and respond promptly to resident needs.

  • Support residents’ participation in daily routines and community activities.

  • Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.

  • Respond to emergencies in a calm and professional manner.

Qualifications / Requirements (Applies to Both Roles)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required/preferred.

  • Experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, or senior care preferred; training provided as applicable.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to provide compassionate, resident-centered care.

  • Must successfully pass a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse

Additional Requirements – Medication Technician Role Only

  • Current Medication Technician / Medication Aide certification as required by the State of Florida.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements (JKV Standard)

  • Work is performed primarily in an Assisted Living and/or Memory Care community, including common areas and resident apartments.

  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and assisting residents throughout scheduled shifts.

  • Requires frequent use of arms, hands, fingers, legs, and back.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds, and occasionally more with assistance.

  • May be required to assist or support a resident’s body weight during transfers or mobility activities.

  • Must be able to see, hear, speak, and communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.

  • Must be able to respond appropriately to emergency situations.

Customer / Resident Relations

Must maintain a professional, respectful, and courteous demeanor with residents, family members, visitors, and team members at all times.
