Help Zm deliver safe, reliable transportation by elevating the health and uptime of our fleet. As a Medium/Heavy-Duty Fleet Diagnostics Specialist, you’ll be the go-to for troubleshooting, quality repairs, and preventive maintenance.
Your Impact
- Pinpoint faults and repair: steering, electrical, cooling, lubrication, braking, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and oil/temperature/gas regulating components—within your qualification level and in compliance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local regulations.
- Back up teammates by assisting Tech I’s on engine, transmission, and differential rebuilds as assigned by the manager.
- Drive vehicles pre- and post-service to validate concerns and confirm successful repairs; integrate test drives into PM inspections.
- Secure required inspections and approvals for major repairs prior to vehicle release.
- Flag any additional needed work, including items for higher-qualification technicians.
- Document time, parts, and work performed on the appropriate forms.
- Handle road calls and perform on-the-road fixes as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area that meets company housekeeping standards and regulatory requirements.
- Alert the Lead Technician about unsafe conditions or vehicle abuse.
- Work assigned shift; overtime as needed (AM/PM).
Who You Are
- A developing technician who enjoys variety and takes pride in safe, high-quality work.
- Comfortable with modern diagnostic tools; confident in complex electrical and A/C repairs.
- Organized, thorough with documentation, and eager to learn from senior techs.
Must-Haves
- 2–4 years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
- Diagnostic, Electrical, and A/C expertise.
- Hands-on knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
- Fleet experience with diesel and gasoline systems.
- Recommended minimum hand tools for Medium/Heavy-Duty Diesel Technicians.
- Strong judgment and decision-making.
- Proficiency: Diesel Engine Systems.
Nice-to-Haves
- Valid CDL License (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
- ASE certifications in brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, A/C—or Master School Bus/Truck Technician.
